tip
That's it...only 10 AM and I've read the stupidest thing I've ever seen on the internet. Disney+ is putting a disclaimer before the Muppet Show warning that it's offensive rolleyes
HH - pretty soon if the ‘right on’ brigade get their way there’ll be no comedy at all, for fear of causing offence. Might as well lobotomise us all now and be done with it.. 😩

I like to think I'm a modern, open-minded, accepting individual, but even I'm getting baffled by it all. It's all going too far!

I am still processing the fact that you are watching the Muppet Show....

It's better than 99% of the current television programmes.

If the Muppets are offensive, I'd hate to see the reaction to Monty Python's "The Life of Brian", or Mel Brooks "Blazing Saddles"

It's only the start, HH.

Unfortunately it will in time, TC. The universities are rife with it and the students are being brain washed. It is a cancer that is rife in our academia.

TC, according to the news article, they're even putting disclaimers on older Disney movies like Peter Pan and Dumbo. You have to really work hard to find offence in a cartoon.

They would like to airbrush history, remake all films, rewrite all books. Our history in every genre is what we have learnt from, pretending it didn't happen is childish at best.

Yes. The official term for it now is "bending" history.

The Muppet Show was/is brilliant. If you don’t think so we can’t be friends anymore.

A Beverly Hilbillies rerun had a warning the other day as well. You have to realise that even though you didn't feel like you were being offensive, someone was offended. We can do better.
i think there needs to be a hard and fast rules about being offended ie when is it my issue to resolve and when it's their issue to resolve and when just let it be(in the case of history).

Slightly off topic, but it gets me when people don't understand that businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason......until you ask them to do something they don't want to do.

History and empathy are not mutually exclusive...

indeed true, at the same rate to white wash history is dangerous, forcing others to be empathic more than they are invites chaos(by and by hello j lovely to read you today)

Its kind of the premise of life, One may not agree, (and is probably never going to...) with everything about another person, place, or thing; but it doesn't mean that its a game ender....
If you're afraid you may be offended by watching the Muppets the solution is simple, don't watch. Otherwise we are going to end up in a world of nothing but warningsandpublic service announcements.
