Sunday, January 19, 2014, 12:30:37 AM- Another Saturday update (yawns).
Tomorrow will make two Sundays ago I bought some gasoline with water in it. The next day it was minus 12 degrees and the water froze in the tank. It took until Thursday after that before it thawed enough for me to be able to drive. Even then it kept wanting to freeze up and die on me while I was driving. I finally got some Heet (brand name) to dry up the water. Okay, now it should run right, right? WRONG! That xxxxxx everything into the fuel injectors. The car would run as long as I kept my foot on the gas pedal (except while idling in neutral or park). SO, last night on the way home from work I stopped at a convenience store/gas station (the same one where I got the bad gasoline) and purchased a bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner. After informing the clerk of the reason for said purchase, I dumped the whole bottle in my gas tank and drove home. By the time I arrived home the car was purring like a tiger again. Took the car out on errands today and no problems. What a relief! Cured my engine woes for $6.30. Just in time, too... more snow today (4 inches) and sub freezing temps coming in a couple of days. Ah, life in the MidWest! Another in a series of reasons why I'm on the lookout for a driver.

Friday, January 17, 2014, 6:54:09 PM- Birthday People
Muhammed Ali is 72 and Susanna Hoffs (The Bangles) is 55 today. Each affected my life in my younger years. As a kid, Ali was the greatest boxer I'd ever seen... and what a showman! lol My Dad always thought Rocky Marciano could have taken him though. He thought Joe Louis was the best. I suppose every generation has their favorite. A little boxing trivia: My Dad said that even though Marciano had a devistating left hook, "Jersey Joe" Walcott was the hardest puncher ever... he used to knock out cows for the press! Susanna Hoffs was damn sexy, and I fantasized about her as I was ending my marriage. Saw her picture at 55 today... STILL hot! Happy Birthday to both. Rather than show Ali highlights, I'll just put up a Bangles song for all to enjoy. Peace! ~

Sunday, January 12, 2014, 2:00:08 AM- Coooooooold update
The gasline on my car emained frozen through Thursday. On Friday it warmed up to a whopping 40 degrees, and at long last my car started. Riding public transportation three days in a row was a bit humbling, but educational. I met and talked with some very nice people during my journeys. Having to walk nine blocks to get to the last bus-stop each day showed me that I'm still in pretty good shape. That makes this old codger smile. Recieving several invitations for a ride home from work from fellow employees made me realize that I am blessed to have people think enough of me to offer. All in all, it was a great experience. I learned. I grew. I am content. chaio!

Well, It's gone from minus 12 to 6 above yesterday to 21 today. My car wouldn't start Monday or tuesday (ice in the gas line). Didn't work monday... the buses weren't running and I couldn't get a cab. Yesterday I rode the bus to work. You can't beat a ride from my house downtown, free transfer to another bus that dropped me off a block from my workplace... all for 50 cents! If the busses here ran late, I wouldn't drive my car Monday through Friday. I've suggested this more than once to the bus company. All they'd need at night would be some security on board. No changes yet... think I'll suggest it again. MUCH cheaper than driving! Anyway, I caught a ride home from the supervisor. In a little while I'm going to try to start my car again. Keep your fingers crossed! lol If not today, it should start tomorrow or Friday for sure... it's supposed to be 40 degrees by then. Trust me, I'll be putting some gas-line anti-freeze in my tank soon! For the last few days, I think this song is appropriate: ~
